Last season, injuries curtailed what had the makings of a great season for the Rockford Rams. The Rams won the OK Red title with a perfect 5-0 record and reached the district final in the state playoffs, but the potential was there for even more if not for a rash of injuries that plagued the team from beginning to end.

This looks to be another promising season, with a deep, talented team that features a well-balanced offense and a stingy defense.

On offense, the Rams have plenty of versatility at the quarterback position. Senior Landon Haney (6’2″, 190 pounds) gained plenty of experience last year and is adept at the run game or at passing. Junior Tyler Bradfield (6’4″, 185) is a talented all-around athlete who can also play running back and who is a starting safety on defense, while junior Michael Peterson (6’6″, 175) is a traditional pocket passer.

The Rams are also deep at running back, with Ethan LaCourt and Jake Sendzik, while senior Reid Martin (6’1″, 220) and junior Jackson Ammon (6’1″, 225) are strong tight ends.

As usual, the Rams will feature a big, strong, and deep offensive line. Vance Powell (6’3″, 290) leads the charge with Nick Alferick (6’0″, 240) and Derek Scholl (6’0″, 320).

The defense features plenty of playmakers, led by Bradfield, who is also an excellent kick returner. Junior Gabe Baumann (6’3″, 245) is a ferocious pass rusher, while senior Noah Foss (6’3″, 270) is a talented two-way lineman.

The Rams also feature an outstanding kicker/punter in junior Quinn Nordin.
