A new regime takes over in Ypsilanti, where the Eagles will be looking for their first winning season in 19 years. Chris Creighton has come in from Drake University, where he won two-thirds of his games during six seasons.
OFFENSE: The Eagles have some talented players around whom to build. Tailback Bronson Hill rushed for over 1,000 yards last season, while right tackle Lincoln Hansen earned all-MAC honors. Tight end Tyreese Russell was also all-MAC. At quarterback, sophomore Brogan Roback returns after starting four games as a freshman last year.
DEFENSE: The defense was a disaster zone last year, as it surrendered 45 points per game. The first order of business is improving that defense, and the return of defensive end Pat O’Connor will help that cause. The secondary is veteran-laden but must show dramatic improvement.
OUT TAKE: The latest rebuilding job commences and nowhere is rebuilding more needed than on defense. Road trips to the University of Florida and Michigan State  University could sap all the confidence from a rebuilding squad, and anything more than two wins this season will be considered progress.
