Saginaw Valley Lutheran got a major scare from Ithaca Monday night in boys basketball action but won 65-64 in overtime and has a 7-0 record. Valley Lutheran is 4-0 in the Tri-Valley West.

The first half was bizarre. Ithaca had a 23-8 lead after the first quarter. Then Valley Lutheran exploded in the second quarter with a 39-12 advantage and led 38-25 at halftime and 51-47 after the third quarter. It was 59-all after regulation and Valley Lutheran had a 6-5 scoring edge in overtime.

 

Ryan Appold had 22 points for Valley Lutheran while Josh Appold added 21 points. Josh Appold had eight rebounds and Blake Maurer had seven boards.
