Saginaw Valley Lutheran improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Tri-Valley Conference with a 84-72 boys basketball victory Tuesday night over Carrollton. Valley Lutheran led 29-18 after the first quarter, 45-32 at halftime and 61-50 after the third quarter. Valley Lutheran had a 23-22 scoring advantage in the final eight minutes.
For Valley Lutheran, Rylan Appold had 20 points, followed by Nick Howard with 19 points, Josh Appold with 13 points, Logan Gatza with 12 points and Blake Mauer with 10 points.
Nick Howard had five rebounds, while Rylan Appold had six steals, Josh Appold four steals and Maurer three steals. Gatza, and Rylan and Josh Appold had four assists apiece.
