Saginaw Valley Lutheran improved to 3-0 on Friday night with a 73-64 boys basketball victory over Swan Valley. Valley Lutheran was down 12-9 after the first quarter but had a 22-13 scoring bulge in the second quarter for a 31-25 halftime lead. Valley Lutheran led 46-34 after the third quarter. Valley Lutheran had a 27-20 scoring advantage in the final quarter. Rylan Appold had 29 points on 10-of-19 shooting for Valley Lutheran while Nick Howard made 14 points and Derrick Yurgens had 13 points. Valley Lutheran shot 24-of-55 from the floor. Ryland Appold and Josh Appold had six rebounds apiece. Mike Weiss added five boards. Josh Appold also had five blocks.
