Rockford took first place among 15 teams in Saturday’s West Michigan Relays at Rockford.

The Rams took four event first places and scored 366 points compared to 322 for Zeeland and 290 for Holland West Ottawa.

“We had a really solid meet,” said Rockford coach Tom Parks. “We had a smart meet. The guys swam very well. All the relays were top eight.”

The foursome in breastroke relay of Ethan Babcock, Kyle Hams, Nick Hansen and Nate Isley was first in 1:58.49.

Rockford won the 200-yard butterfly relay with David Newberger, Jacob Davis, Timmer Hoffmeister and Craig Wasberg in 1:36.12. The host school took the 200-yard medley relay with Wasberg, David Newberger, Hoffmeister and Corbin Bremmyr in 1:40.30.

 

The last event of the day was the one-meter dive and the Rams won with 398.45 points.
