Clare lost to Freeland 54-21 in wrestling action on Wednesday with Logan Emery gettng his 100th win. Clare was trailing 36-0 but Zach Betzer scored for Clare. Logan Emery followed Betzer beating his opponent 10-3. Steven Bentley also pinned his opponent at 171 pounds to bring the score, 42-15. Brenden Hensley pinned his opponent at 215.
“Our team came out and wrestled hard-nosed,” said Clare coach. “Trying to make up points from voids and inexperience is a difficult task and we did what we could to put our best foot forward. We are heading to Chip Hills this Saturday for an individual district preview, therefore we can expect to see a lot of good wrestling. I would like to extend special congratulations to Logan Emery for capturing his 100th career Varsity win. This is an outstanding accomplishment and his hard work and dedication to the sport of wrestling has paid off.”
