Lansing Sexton continues its bid for a state title in Division 4 following last weekends regional finals victory 26-21.

Sexton will play in a state semifinal game Saturday against 11-1 Marine City. Sexton won the regionals with a 26-21 victory over Saginaw Swan Valley.

Both teams entered the game at 11-0. It was a scoreless first quarter but Sexton took a 14-0 lead in the second quarter. Avonte Bell had a 13-yard TD run and Javon Cooney caught a 25-yard pass from Bell for six points. Nate Emens kicked both extra points. The third quarter was scoreless but it set up a crazy fourth. Rod Lewis caught a 34-yard pass from Malik Mack with 8:57 to play and Sexton led 20-7. But Swan Valley scored 14 uncontested points to take a stunning 21-20 lead. Sexton rallied with Javon Cooney catching a 31-yard pass from Mack. Mack was 15-of-21 for 244 yards and three touchdowns. Bell rushed for 102 yard on 23 carries. Javon Cooney gained 154 yards on 10 pass catches.
