Morley Stanwood volleyball standout Mekeyla Carey has been named the state of Michigan’s Max Preps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Player of the Week.
Carey was recognized for her efforts last week in leading the Mohawks to the Class C district title. She had 33 kills, 20 digs, three aces and two blocks in a district title victory over state-ranked St. Louis.
Carey is the first Morley Stanwood player to get this honor since 2011 when Sports Scene female Athlete of the Year Alexis Huntey drew the honors.
