Here’s another case where it’s tough for a team to defeat a very good opponent twice in the regular season. Lowell seemed a strong favorite to win the Division 2 state crown this year. The Red Arrows had soared through all of their nine regular season games including a pair of overtime wins over two powers: 42-39 in four OTs over East Grand Rapids and 35-34 in two OTs over Grand Rapids Christian.

The Red Arrows had a 31-20 win over Muskegon earlier in the season but had the inenviable task of trying to beat the Big Red again in the district playoffs Friday. Muskegon got its revenge with a 28-21 victory over the Arrows, ending Noel Dean’s team’s season at 10-1.
