East Lansing’s soccer team had three first-half goals on its way to a 4-1 victory over DeWitt Saturday in the Division 2 boys district finals.
It was the second straight season East Lansing has won the districts. The Trojans, 21-2 and ranked fourth in the state, defeated DeWitt 1-0 in overtime in last year’s district tournament.
DeJuan Jones with two goals and an assist, led East Lansing and scored the game’s first goal. He assisted on a goal by Ian Carroll moments later. Scott Darios notched the third goal midway in the half for a 3-0 lead. Christopher Pridnia had the first assist and was set up by Jones. Jones put in his second goal with less than two minutes remaining in the game for a three-goal lead.
East Lansing plays Lapeer East at Fenton on Tuesday in semifinal action for the regionals.
DeWitt made it 3-l early in the second half.
