Notes: The Cavaliers won three games last season and are looking for their first winning season since 2005. Corunna has plenty of weapons on offense, led by running back MJ Myles and wide receiver Mykhail Myles. It also returns a veteran quarterback in Grant Renwick.

Coach’s comment: “We will be young at the skilled positions. Portland, Lansing Catholic, and Williamston have all been in the title game in the last three years. We have to win all of the close games.”

Players returning: Peter Atkins, Ethan Leppanen, David Poljan, Austin Schertzing, Jordan Smith, Adam Zarotnay

Coach’s comment: “Our offensive and defensive lines will be our strength. They will be the largest size-wise in many years.”

 

School: Portland 

Nickname: Raiders

2012 record: 13-1 

Players lost: Dylan Carroll, Adam Goodman, Logan Seal, Randy Gensterblum, Drew Roe, Justin Goodman, Jeff Feldpausch

Players returning: Zach Gustafson, Hunter Scott, Jacob Kimmel, Sam Goodman, Auston Brandt , Jacob Fox

Coach’s comment: “Offense returns seven starters. Running backs are strong. Defense only returns one starter.”

 

School: Stockbridge

Nickname: Panthers

Coach: Jeremy Killinger

2012 record: 2-7

Players lost: Josh Esign, Devin Allen, Ethan Fillmore

Players returning: Lucas Showerman, Richard Newman, Cord Acosta, Kaleb Grammer, Shane Allen

Notes: The Panthers’ stay in the CAAC is short-lived. After two seasons, they will be moving to a new Lansing-area league next  season.

 

School: Williamston

Nickname: Hornets

Coach: Steve Kersten

2012 record: 7-4

Players lost: Ray Duncan, Logan DeGarmo, Zach Bentley, Robbie Harbert, Jake Tkaczyk, Isaak Jump, Pat Loewen

Players returning: Ryan Watters, Chaz Moore

Notes: Graduation hit the Hornets hard. The offense will be in good hands with the return of senior quarterback Ryan Watters. Defensively, junior Chaz Moore is a standout in the secondary.
