Led by the dynamic duo of senior Jacob Johnson and junior Brent Marshall, the Lansing Catholic Central boy’s golf team captured the Division 3 golf district May 28 at Hunter’s Ridge in Howell.
Lansing Catholic Central finished with a team score of 320 to win the title and lead a pack of six teams on to this week’s regional tournament. Williamston finished second with a 339 total followed by St. Charles (3rd, 344), Chesaning (4th, 345),  Montrose (5th, 364) and Ithaca (6th, 372).
Johnson led the way for Lansing Catholic as he shared medalist honors at the tournament as he fired a 73 while Marshall finished in third place overall with a 76. Sophomore Niko Voutaras finished in seventh overall with an 82 while sophomore Adam Elias carded an 89.   
Junior Michael Willson led the way for Williamston as he placed fourth overall with an 80. Junior Parker Ottarson finished seventh with an 82 while senior Evan Fox carded an 86 and senior Aaron Ward and junior Kyle Russell both shot 91s.
Junior Dustin Pumford of St. Charles shared medalist honors as he also carded a 73. Senior Hunter Koch added an 86 for St. Charles while junior James Barber shot an 89.
Junior Jordan Gengler led the way for Chesaning as he finished fourth overall with an 80. Sophomore Ben Kasik took sixth for Chesaning with an 81 while junior Alex Copes was seventh with an 82.
Junior Alex Vanderploeg led the way for Ithaca with an 87. Juniors Kaeden Greer and John Derry both carded 92 for the Yellowjackets.
Also qualifying for the regional tournament as individuals were sophomore Richard Jagger of Laingsburg who shot an 83 and finished 10th overall along with Jimmy Davisson (87) of Perry, Zane Zwick (88) of Ovid-Elsie, Nathan Dollar (88) of Perry, Travis Fahey (90) of Ovid-Elsie and Chase Winiarski (91) of Durand.
