l With its victory last Friday, Ithaca High School is the first football team in any division in the state of Michigan to go undefeated while winning three consecutive state football championships in the playoff era (beginning in 1975). Four other teams have won 3 or more consecutive state championships, but none went undefeated for more than 2 years in a row. Those 4 schools are Detroit Catholic Central, East Grand Rapids, Farmington Harrison, and St. Martin DePorres.
l Ithaca High School’s 42-game winning streak is the longest winning streak in MHSAA history during the playoff era in which a state championship was won (Hudson with 72 victories and Morenci with 44 victories both did so prior to the playoff era and Cheboygan with 43 victories, although in the playoff era, never qualified or played in the playoffs due to its apparently weak regular season schedule and hence did not win even one state championship during its winning streak.)
l Ithaca High School finished the 2012 season with the 5th (3-way tie) longest winning streak in the country.
