Patrick Welter is the new coach for Midland High’s boys swim team this summer. He expects his top swimmers to be Tyler Slater in the backstroke, Travis Smith in the distance and Philip Steinbrunner in the butterfly.
Welter said his team will be “as good or better than last year,” adding that the key will be “Our outside lanes. Our number 2 and 3 swimmers will provide our depth needed to win.
“With the additional teams in the Valley we want to hold our ranking or move up at the championship meet.”
Welter expects Midland Dow to be among the top teams in the state, led by swimmers Jackson Goethie and Ben Martin.
