Kyle Carter was one of six individual champions for the Cardinals in the Big Rapids Crossover Duals, which opened the season for the Cards on Saturday.
Big Rapids won the eight-team event with 80 points, followed by Montabella with 59, Petoskey 56 and Ogemaw Heights with 46. Kingsley finished fifth, Orchard View sixth, Greenville seventh and Shepherd eighth.

“It shows so far that I’ve had a successful high school career,” Carter said. “I’ve just been continuing to wrestle a match at a time.”
Carter was happy with his Saturday performance. He had four pins and a technical fall.
Big Rapids also netted first places from Nick Worden at 103, Nate Weckesser at 119, Alin Muhammad at 125, Sam Miller at 145 and Justin McClelland at 189.
