The Pewamo-Westphalia girl’s cross country team ended the season in a big way.
After placing third at the Division 4 regional at Carson City – Crystal, the Pirates ended the season by placing 15th at the Division 4 state finals at Michigan International Speedway near Brooklyn.
The Pirates were led at the state meet by junior Betsy Arens who placed 19th in a time of Betsy Arens 20:06.6. Sophomore Leanna Schafer placed 67th overall in a time of 21:32.2 followed by sophomore Mykena Witgen (94th, 10 22:17.0), Jenna Thelen (95th, 22:17.6), freshman Audrey Pohl (96th, 22:18.5), sophomore Brooke Bengel (130th, 23:31.8) and freshman Jessica Schafer (140th, 23:49.9).
Arens also led the way for Pewamo-Westphalia at the regional meet. Arens placed sixth overall at the regional with a time of 20:11.8. Audrey Pohl placed 18th in a time of 21:25.6 followed by Leanna Schafer (20th, 21:33.5), Jenna Thelen (26th, 22:24.8), Mykena Witgen (27th, 22:25.4), Jessica Schafer (32nd, 22:57.5) and Brooke Bengel (45th, 24:15).
