Led by the one-two punch of Mado Glew and Sarah Goble, the East Lansing girls cross country team is headed to the Division 1 state finals this Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.

Glew and Goble finished in the top five individually and helped the Trojans finish in third place overall. Brighton won the regional title with 39 points followed by Milford in second with 63 and East Lansing third with 65. Okemos finished fourth overall while Holt took sixth place.   

Glew, a junior, finished second as an individual with a tie of 18:31.32. Senior Avery Evenson of Hartland took first place individually with a time of 18:07.03.

Goble, a sophomore, took fourth place in a time of 18:50.33 followed by Stephanie Vanis (14th, 19:26.09), Hannah Busch (19th, 19:40.32), Carla Jones (26th, 19:51.82) and Molly Korest (36th, 20:22.17).

Sophomore Isis Gregg led the way for Okemos as she placed 12th in a time of 19:24.02. Gregg was followed by Ayda Alavi (22nd, 19:46.64), Roxanne Raven (25th, 19:49.55), Maya Aronoff (32nd, 20:13.11),  Kelsey Schroeder (34th, 20:15.92) and Paige McKeon (37th, 20:24.21).

Freshman Megan Kline paced Holt as she finished seventh overall with a time of 19:01.09. Kline was followed by Abbey Houser (29th, 19:55.73), Mariah Borrego (35th, 20:17.60), Brittany Swejkoski (57th, 21:06.78) and Leanna Wehrle (58th, 21:07.93).

Lansing Eastern also competed at the regional. The Quakers were led by Kirsten Smith (70th, 21:38.53) and Katie Murdoch (81st, 22:52.53).
