The Division 1 girl’s golf regional at Sunnybrook Country Club in Grandville was Ram tough on Thursday as both the Rockford Rams and Holt Rams qualified for the Division 1 state tournament next week.

Rockford finished second at the regional with a score of 386 while Holt took third place with a score of 398. East Kentwood was the regional champion with a 381.

Along with Holt and Rockford, Haley Blumer of Grand Ledge also earned a trip to the state finals as she placed third among individual golfers from non-state qualifying schools and will compete at the state finals as an individual. Blumer fired a 94 to earn the third and final spot in the finals.

Rockford was paced by junior Abbi Anthony who finished sixth overall with a 94. Junior Aimee Hite and sophomore Tori Sobkowiak both carded 97 for the Rams who featured a balanced effort while senior Kayla McFadden recorded a 98.

Junior standout Pader Her paced Holt. Her shot a 75 to win medalist honors. Junior Katie Hartner came in with a 105 while juniors Alexxis VanPelt and Jenna Whitson both shot 109s for the Rams.

Along with Blumer’s 94, Grand Ledge also had a 104 from junior Alexis Mbozinski and a 105 from senior Nicole Graham. Grand Ledge finished fifth overall as a team.
