Led by their doubles teams, the Okemos boy’s tennis team captured the title at the CAAC Gold Showcase Tournament.
Okemos captured all four of the doubles flights as it took first place with 57 points. Lansing Catholic took second with 46 while Portland placed third with 39, Haslett fourth with 36, Holt sixth with 31 and DeWitt seventh with 24.
At No. 1 doubles, the Okemos team of Ashton Hoffman and Herschel Ambekar defeated Cameron Simon and Colin Gensterblum of Portland 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2 doubles Steven Wu and Ritwik Biswas took first for Okemos. At No. 3 doubles the Okemos duo of Nathan Janick and Kyle Nussdorfer defeated DeWitt’s Sam Hopkins and Myles Pollie while at No. 4 doubles Kevin Hustsell and Ross Lazar of Okemos turned back Patrick Gifford and Will Holton of Haslett.
In singles action Jordan Jacobsen of Okemos edged Mitch Steward of Haslett 6-3, 6-4. At No. 1 singles Matt Heeder of Lansing Catholic defeated Elan Dantus of Okemos 6-2, 6-4 while at No. 3 singles Jake Johnson of Lansing Catholic defeated Mazen Oweiss of Okemos 6-1, 6-2.
