While the Saranac football team has posted a winning record through the first five games of the season, they can be excused if they wonder “what if” for a few seconds.

If not for three points, the Redskins would be a perfect 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference. Those three points were the combined margin of the two defeats that Saranac has suffered. Saranac dropped a 14-13 decision to Dansville and a 9-7 decision to defending league champion Fowler.

While Saranac has fell short in a pair of defensive struggles, they have also came out ahead in a pair of barn burners. Saranac opened the season with a 60-32 win against Perry and also won a 47-33 thriller against Bath.

The Redskins have a difficult final four weeks of the season as they play 4-1 Pewamo-Westphalia this Fridayh and close out the regular season against a Grandville Calvin Christian team that opened the season with a 4-1 record.
