The Owosso Trojans used a punishing ground game to open the season in a big way with a 49-28 win against cross-town rival Corunna.

The Trojans amassed 316 rushing yards and Brad Rigoulot, Robet Geoghegan and Brody Edington all scored twice.

Owosso led 27-16 at the half and never looked back.

Corunna countered with the passing of quarterback Grant Renwick. Renwick completed 13-of-2 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns. Mikhail Myles led the Cavaliers with four receptions for 80 yards.

Owosso returns to action on Thursday when it travels to face 1-0 Portland.

Corunna will be at 1-0 St. Johns on Thursday.
