Sports Scene Soccer Dream Team

Ashton Miller, Okemos, Field Player, Player of the Year

Miller helped lead Okemos to a Division 1 state championship. During the season she scored 18 goals and tallied 11 assists while being considered one of the top sophomore soccer players in the country.

Erica Goodenough, DeWitt, Forward

The DeWitt senior helped lead the Panthers to their third straight Division 2 semifinal. Goodenough scored 31 goals on the season.

Addison Schaar, DeWitt, Forward

Schaar was second on the team in scoring with 30 goals and finished the year with 14 assists.

Kirsty Gomez, Lansing Christian, Forward

A sophomore, Gomez finished the year with 51 goals, leading all area players in goals scored. She has over 100 goals in her first two years of varsity action.

Gabby Garza, Williamston, Midfield

A proven playmaker, Garza finished the season with 22 assists.

Molly O’Connor, Okemos, Goalie

A second team all-state performer, O’Connor had a goalie save percentage of .954 on the season.

Lindsey Lee, Midland Dow, Defender

The future Western Michigan University player helped lead Midland Dow to the regional final where it fell to Rochester Adams 2-1 in overtime. Lee led a Dow defense that allowed just six goals in 24 games.

Desirae Duvernois, Frankenmuth, Forward

Duvernois scored 21 goals with 12 assists for the Eagles, who were 21-3-2 this season. Duvernois is a four-year varsity player and three-year starter.

Brenna Pawelkowski, Nouvel Catholic Central, Midfield

Pawelkowski led Nouvel to the regional finals in Division 4. She totaled 25 points, with 12 goals and 13 assists.

Allyson Harran, Powers Catholic, Defender

Harran, a sophomore, scored 13 goals on just 30 shots and provided four assists. She has already verbally committed to play soccer at Wake Forest University.

Morgan McKerchie, Powers Catholic, Forward

McKerchie led the Chargers in goals (21) and assists (23) en route to earning first-team Division 3 all-state honors. Only a sophomore, she has verbally committed to play at Michigan State University.

Coach of the Year

Gary Strickler, Midland Dow

Midland Dow finished the season 21-2-1. Dow had 20 shutouts on the season and allowed just six goals.
