Lake Orion won the Division 1 boys’ track and field meet June 2 at East Kentwood.

Bay City Western was sixth with 26 points.

Matt Costello threw the discus 178’6″ for first and tossed the shot put 55’8″ for second place.

Nathan Flores was seventh in the 800-meter run in 1:56.49. The 1,600-meter relay team was seventh in 3:22.99.

GIRLS 

Grosse Pointe South won the girls’ meet with 77.50 points. South’s 3,200-meter relay team of Kelsie Schwartz, Ersula Farrow, Haley Meier, and Hannah Meier was first with a new division final meet record of 8:48.29.

The champs got key points in the 1,600-meter run with Hannah Meier first in 4:43.05, Haley Meier second in 4:52.53, and Ersula Farrow third in 4:56.42. Taylor Manett of Rockford was fourth in 4:48.67. Hannah Maier won the 800-meter run in 2:08.57, while Haley Meier was third in 2:11.55, and Farrow fourth in 2:11.55. The 1,600-meter relay team won in 3:53.90.

We knew we had the talent coming into the season,” said South coach Steve Zaranek. “We had a lot of special guys as well. A majority of our points came in the distances.”
