CORUNNA GIRLS TRACK
The Corunna girls track team is off to a strong start this season. The girls scored a big victory when they took first place at the Corunna Invitational. They totaled 129 points to outdistance Flushing, which placed second with 80 points and Haslett, which took third with 76.
Michaila Lawcock has been a key contributor for the Cavaliers this season. She tied the school record in the pole vault and was part of two winning relay teams at the Corunna Invitational.
The Cavaliers continued their strong efforts in a 114-22 win against Portland. Morgan Cnudde won both throwing events, while Elizabeth Watling was part of two winning relay teams.
CORUNNA BOYS TRACK
The Corunna boys track team has been the beneficiary of some strong efforts this season. In a 95-42 victory over Portland, the Cavaliers had a trio of double winners. In the field events, Mikhail Myles won both the long jump and the high jump. In the sprints, Josh Osika captured both the 100- and the 200-meter dashes, and Garrett Ruess won both the 110- and the 300-meter hurdles.
CORUNNA GIRLS TENNIS
The Corunna girls tennis team turned in a strong effort enroute to placing second at the Corunna Invitational. The No. 1 doubles team of Tailor Fronek and Billie Carroll and the No. 2 doubles team of Rebecca Whalen and Breanna Hurley both took first places for the Cavaliers.
CORUNNA BOYS GOLF
Corunna senior Cory Peisert is off to a strong start with the Cavalier boys golf team. He fired a round of 79 at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Invitational at Glenbrier Golf Course. He finished four strokes behind Division 1 medalist Nick Park of Howell and Division 2 medalist Adam Wendling of Caro.
As a team, the Cavaliers placed seventh overall in Division 2.
CORUNNA GIRLS SOCCER
The Corunna girls soccer team is off to a solid start this season. The Cavaliers opened the season with three wins, three losses, and one tie during their first seven games. Defense has been a key for the Cavaliers, who have received some strong play in net from goalkeeper Katie Ennis.
CORUNNA SOFTBALL
Fans of the Corunna softball team have been treated to some offensive fireworks this season. The Cavaliers, who have hovered around the .500 mark this spring, totaled 21 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Ithaca. Nichole Numerich was one of the ringleaders of the offensive barrage, with a three-run home run in the first game and three hits in the second game. Morgan Feldpausch and Mackenna Chrzan each added two RBI in the first game, while Feldpausch added a pair of doubles in the nightcap. Payton Birchmeier was the winning pitcher in both games.
The Cavaliers eclipsed that offensive output in a doubleheader sweep of Lansing Sexton. The Cavaliers totaled 30 runs in the sweep. Sam Zdunic paced the Cavaliers in game one with four singles, while Brennyn Hebekeuser drove in five runs. In game two, Brandy Buckler highlighted the offense with a three-run homer.
CORUNNA BASEBALL
Like the softball team, the Corunna baseball team has been putting up some impressive run totals. It scored 27 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Lansing Sexton.
The Cavaliers have been led by seniors Joe Janca, Mike Janca, Nick Howes, Logan Dumond, Jorden Thomson, and Dave Craven. The Cavaliers have also been receiving a strong effort on the mound and at the plate from Chase Buckler.
