Bay City Central senior Brett Leppek has been helping the Wolves hockey team put together an impressive 17-3-1 overall and 5-3 Saginaw Valley League record so far this season.

“He’s helped the team in different roles and certainly contributed to how the team has done,” 16th-year head coach Mike Kayner said of his four-year varsity forward. “Everybody has their role. Last year we had a lot of seniors, this year we don’t have as many, so a lot of guys changed their roles.”

The fact that the team had a larger number of underclassmen has given Leppek, who had around 25 points at press time, an even bigger role than in recent years.

“He’s an athletic kid, he competes and he works hard,” Kayner said. “Knowing what to expect [as a senior] has helped.”
