The Owosso girls basketball team is looking at this year as a learning experience. The Trojans have a young squad and are looking for improvement after turning in a 3-17 record last season.
This year’s squad has five seniors around which it is building. Brittany Damerow (5’7″) returns up front along with Leslie McKee (5’8″). Chelsea Ardelean (5’5″) will also see action up front and in the backcourt. Ericka Gonzalez (5’3″) and Andi Lund (5’3″) bring senior leadership to the backcourt.
The bulk of the roster hails from the junior class. Claire Gilbert (5’9″) is one of the taller players on the team. Amanda Leftwich (5’6″) and Erica Tejkl (5’5″) can play a variety of roles. Aubrey Minarik (5’4″), Chelsea Michalec (5’3″), and Kaycee Konopacke (5’4″) will add depth in the backcourt.
Another pair of juniors add to the team’s size and depth. Kendal Mallory (5’9″) provides some size in the post, while Jordan Bannan (5’4″) will add to the depth at guard.
“We are looking to improve from last year,” said coach Devon Burzynski, who is entering her fourth year as head coach. “We are going to take every day as a learning experience.”
