Hemlock – football

The Hemlock football team finished the season with a 9-3 record after falling to eventual state champion Powers Catholic in the regional title game. The nine wins by Hemlock were the most in one season since the 1973 and 1974 teams both went 9-0. Hemlock went 7-2 in the regular season and then defeated Carrollton 21-14 and Freeland 27-20 in the first two rounds of the playoffs.

Saranac – football

The Saranac football team qualified for the playoffs for the second consecutive season this year. It turned in an 8-1 regular season mark and opened the playoffs with a 24-20 win against Springport. The Redskins then fell to Pewamo-Westphalia 24-13 in the district championship game.

East Lansing – football

The Trojans recorded nine wins in a season for the first time since 2007. East Lansing reached the regional title game in Division 3 where it dropped a 28-20 decision to Mt. Pleasant. East Lansing opened the playoffs with wins against St. Johns (49-42) and DeWitt (23-14). Senior linebacker Chris Hagan earned honorable-mention all-state honors.

Mason – football

Mason finished the football season with a 9-2 overall record. The Bulldogs went 8-1 during the regular season and defeated Sturgis 38-26 in the first round of the playoffs before falling to Harper Creek in the district championship game. Both running back Saylor LaVallii and linebacker Connor Holbrook earned first-team all-state honors.

Portland – football
  
The Raiders of Portland finished the football season with a 9-2 record after falling to Division 5 state finalist Lansing Catholic in the district championship game. The Raiders defeated Ovid-Elsie 31-8 in the first round of the playoffs. Offensive lineman Preston Scheurer was named first-team all-state.

DeWitt – football

DeWitt capped a solid season by reaching the Division 3 district title game, where it dropped a 23-14 decision to East Lansing. The Panthers, who went 8-1 during the regular season, defeated rival Haslett 28-14 in the first round. Panther quarterback Ryan Wieber and linebacker Ethan Rennaker both earned honorable-mention all-state honors in Division 3-4.

St. Johns – football

The Red Wings ended the football season with a 7-3 record after falling 49-42 to East Lansing in the first round of the playoffs. Running back Andrew Mullikin earned honorable-mention all-state honors for the Red Wings.

Grand Ledge – football

Grand Ledge wrapped up the football season by splitting a pair of games against teams from the powerful O-K Red Conference in the playoffs. The Comets, who went 8-3 overall this season, defeated Grand Haven 21-14 in the opening round before falling to Rockford in the district title game. Offensive lineman Cory Arnouts earned honorable-mention all-state honors in Division 1-2.

Okemos – football

The Okemos football team enjoyed a banner season, as it qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2007. The Chieftains defeated Bay City Western 46-43 in the first round of the Division 2 playoffs before falling to Fenton in the district title game.

Holt – football
The Rams saw the football season come to an end in dramatic fashion when they fell 59-52 to Grand Blanc in the first round of the Division 1 state playoffs. Holt ended the season with a 5-5 overall record.
