Ashley: All-MSAC football players were Corey Copeman on the first team, and Tyler Skaryd, Justin Wilk, Josh Wilk, and Carl Wilson on the second team.
Crossroads Charter Academy: Mallory Carlson scored 14 points while Ashley Soller netted 11 points in a 48-27 win for the Crossroads girls basketball team over Marion, keeping the Cougars undefeated at 2-0. The winners had a 32-6 scoring edge in the second half.
Breckenridge: Linebacker Isaac Gregory was on the all-TCAA first team defense. Also honored were punter Dirk Stoneman, running back Devin Hartnagle, offensive lineman Curtis Doyle, and defensive back Danny Huntoon.
Carson City-Crystal: Players to watch this season for the Eagles boys basketball team are seniors Maxxton Jolls, Lucas McCrackin, and Nathan LaVictor, and juniors Brann Schmitt and Mitchel Schneider.
Cedar Springs: Scott Taylor is the school’s new girls basketball coach. Among the key returning players is Tiffany Karger, a 5’9″ senior forward who averaged 8.6 rebounds per game last season. Rachel Ludtke is a 6’1″ senior forward “and is a good, solid post player and a strong, good rebounder,” Taylor said, adding that he expects 5’5″ senior guard Chaya Coxon to contribute to the team in a major way.
Central Montcalm: Paige Switzer and Michaela Crooks earned all-CSAA first-team honors for volleyball. Karli Clark, Courtney Edwards, and Courtney Schmit were on the honorable mention list. Tyler Sleet earned all-CSAA cross country honors.
Chippewa Hills: Hannah Guy and Olivia Wolfe are on the first-team all-CSAA team for volleyball while Hali Earl is on the honorable mention list. All-conference football honors went to Colten Conley on offense, plus Trent Karcher, Johnny Wernette, and Alex Barron on defense. Megan O’Neil and Emily Starck were on the all-CSAA cross country team along with Don Dennis and Mike Alverado.
Coleman: All-MSAC football honorees were Christian Azu, Hunter Gross, and Tylor Rhynard on the first team.
Farwell: Lindsay Ruckle is in her senior season and ready to help make Farwell girls basketball a winning team. She had 17 points and 10 rebounds in a 45-27 win over Coleman to open the regular season.
Lakeview: Cecila Bayne was on the all-CSAA volleyball first team for the Wildcats. Andrea Henry, Erin VanderZand, and Chelsea Lint were on the honorable mention list. Football CSAA honors went to Joe Main on offense.
Montabella: All-MSAC honorees for Montabella football were Derek Martin, Jeramee Gilman, and Travis Dunn on defense and quarterback Charles Helmer, wideout Jemikal Papendick, and lineman Jeremy Quezada on offense.
Morley Stanwood: Alexis Huntey, Kayla Rosman, and Bailey Cairnduff were on the all-CSAA first team for volleyball. Samantha Carey and Brett Chesebro made the honorable mention list. All-CSAA football honorees were Steven Hopkins, Ben Koster, Adam Wheeler, Tyler Wilcox, Matt Parrish, and Tyler Hanks.
Ovid-Elsie: For Tri-Valley Conference football, offensive lineman Chazz Miller was on the first team along with linebacker Jeff Houska, defensive back Tate Coleman, plus punter Jacob Micka.
In boys’ basketball, the Marauders were 7-14 last year but graduated only one player and beat 19-0 Swan Valley in the regular season finale. Key players back are seniors Greg Greenhoe, Jake Gewirtz, Tate Coleman, Dustin Karlik, Hunter Winans, and Cayden Baese.
Shepherd: The All-Tri Valley football team included Chris Dickman, wide receiver Devon Van Bonn, defensive lineman Tyler Kelly, and linebacker David Hiner.
Tri-County: Alexis Firovich, Geneva Keech, and Audree LaLonde will be among the top players this season for the Tri County girls basketball team. Firovich scored 12 points while Keech had 10 in the season opener, a 44-35 loss to Comstock Park.
Vestaburg: The football team ended with a 4-5 record. Receiving all-MSAC honors were defensive end Keith Fletcher, tight end Ryan Daley, offensive tackle Tyler Pendell, running back Kyle Johnson, and defensive tackle Michael Hale. Fletcher had 71 tackles and five sacks as a defensive standout.
Big Rapids: Braeden Gosma and Paige Johnson were on the all-CSAA honorable mention list for volleyball. Jake Daugherty made the all-CSAA football team. All-CSAA for cross country were Clark Ruiz, Don Dennis, and Mark Alverado for the boys, and Rachel Joseph, Chloe Kinnally, and Jenny Swymeler for the girls.
