It was an enjoyable fall season for Paige Beracy.
A 2010 graduate of Ithaca, Beracy plays soccer at Concordia University in Ann Arbor.
She earned first-team all-conference honors her sophomore season. Concordia plays in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference during the fall season. Beracy played center midfielder and forward and had nine goals and five assists.
“Those are a lot lower than usual,” said Beracy, who was an all-stater during her high school years at Ithaca. “But our team was 1-10-2. I had five goals last year.”
Despite the stats, Beracy has been having fun playing at the college level.
“It’s a lot more physical in college,” Beracy said. “In high school, they call more [fouls] than they do in college.”
Getting all-league honors was rewarding for Beracy.
“Personally, it was a good season considering we only won one game,” Beracy said. “Getting first team [all-conference] was huge.”
Beracy especially took pride in her various skills
“I have a good vertical jump, which helps since I win a lot of balls out of the air,” she said. “Pretty much it’s all-around, I can score and pass.”
For next year, Beracy wants to work on her decision-making and also on her shots.
“We lost two seniors and a couple are transferring, but we’re bringing in a lot of new recruits,” Beracy said. “It looks like we’ll be stronger next year. We just got a new coach. He’s bringing in a new system, so it should be better. We just need more numbers. We only had 14 players with a lot of girls getting injured.”
Beracy also plays basketball at Concordia on the junior varsity level.
