After suffering through a late-season slump, the Grand Ledge football team closed the regular season strong with a big win against rival Holt.
After starting fast, the Comets were able to hang on to claim a 20-14 win against Holt and take not only the victory, but also a share of the CAAC Blue title. With the win, the Comets finished the conference season at 5-2 and in a four-way tie for the championship with East Lansing, Sexton, and Holt.
Grand Ledge started the season strong and went 6-0 before losing two straight heading into the final game against Holt.
Grand Ledge struck fast against Holt, as Andre Carter returned a punt 64 yards for a touchdown only three minutes into the game and gave his team a 7-0 lead. Then a muffed punt that was recovered by the Comets gave them the ball on the 20-yard line. On the very next play, Josh Bachert ran it in for a Comet touchdown.  That’s where the scoring stayed until, with only a minute left in the half, the Comets forced another turnover, and again Bachert ran it in from the one-yard line to give Grand Ledge a 20-0 lead going into the half.
