The Mason boy’s cross country team turned in a dominant performance at the Division 2 regional meet at Ella Sharp Park in Jackson.
The Bulldogs placed five runners in the top ten as individuals to dominate the regional meet and earn a spot in Saturday’s Division 2 state finals at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
Mason finished with 26 points to run away with the regional title followed by second-place Chelsea with 55 and Sturgis in third place with 78.
Junior Tanner Hinkle led the way for Mason as he was the overall winner of the race with a time of 15:36.6. Fellow junior Alex Whitmer placed third in a time of 15:58.7 followed by sophomore Mason Vandyke (5th, 16:16.3), senior Joe Cecil (8th, 16:28.3), sophomore Jacob Hanson (9th, 16:40.8), sophomore Paul Pioszak (46th, 18:12.) and sophomore Christian Thorton (73rd, 18:58.3).
