Wow, what a game.

it was a heartbreaker for the Chippewa Hills Warriors in a 23-20 loss to the host Alma Panthers Friday night in a first-round football playoff game.

The ending was incredible,” said Ingersoll. “Our kids, we’ve done this all year. We’ve come back a couple of times. We just don’t quit. They believe we can score at any time. That was the most exciting high  school football ending I’ve ever been involved with and I’ve been coaching 25 years.”

F   or the Warriors was that victory seemed at hand with just over a minute to play when Trent Karcher went high to pull down his second interception of the game, giving the Warriors the ball at the CH 20.

Chip Hills moved the ball while Alma called timeout and the Panthers stripped the ball away for a fumble recovery at the Warrior 40 with 25 seconds left. With 10.3 seconds left Vinny Costanzo passed 18 yards to Caden Kipp for the winning touchdown.

During both our timeouts, we were telling them the first guy goes for the tackler and the second guy goes for the ball,” Ingersoll said. “We had to strip it, we had to go for the ball.”

That’s a hard one,” Jose said. “It will be a while before I digest this one. This is tough”
