The St. Patrick football team put an end to a nearly two-year winless streak in a big way with a pair of early-season victories.
The Shamrocks have scored first in every one of their games this season but weren’t able to break a 15-game losing streak until a 41-28 victory over Dansville September 10th. In that game, they scored first, as they have done in every game this season, after Colin Lay intercepted a Dansville pass and returned it all the way to the Aggie 30-yard line.  Then Casey Wilcox took it in for a 19 yard touchdown.  That made the score 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The Aggies didn’t go down easily, as they came right back in the second quarter with a 12 play touchdown scoring drive but missed the extra point, still leaving the lead with the Shamrocks.
Danny Beachnau added to St. Patrick’s lead when he intercepted a pass and ran it back to the 1-yard line and then two plays later, he ran the ball in for a touchdown, making the score 14-6.  Then Beachnau scored again with only a minute left in the first half to make the score 21-14 at halftime.
The Shamrocks dominated both sides of the ball.  The defense kept the pressure on in the second half, with two fourth quarter interceptions by David Simon and Jake Schneider, and the offense added two touchdowns from Wilcox and a keeper by Lay to make the final score 41-28 to finally end the Shamrocks’ long losing streak.
Wilcox led the Shamrocks on the ground with 98 yards on 23 carries.  Lay completed 15 of 27 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns.
The Shamrocks then went on to face Carson City-Crystal, where they got their second straight win, defeating them 41-27.
Casey Wilcox got the scoring started by taking a kickoff return 80 yards and scoring a touchdown and St. Patrick never looked back from there.
Danny Beachnau led the Shamrocks on the ground with 67 yards on nine carries.  David Simon also contributed with 57 yards on eight attempts.  Colin Lay went 47 yards on 13 carries.
Lay completed 27 passes for 103 yards and three touchdowns, while Cameron Bartlett had two receptions for 28 yards and a touchdown.
Simon, Beachnau, and Jesse Smith led the defense with six tackles each.
With the wins, the Shamrocks evened their record at 2-2
