After finishing last season 8-2, this year’s John Glenn football team picked up where it left off a year ago.

Through four games, John Glenn is 3-1. The Bobcats opened the season with convincing wins over Cadillac (42-7) and Gaylord (35-12), before losing to a tough Muskegon Heights team 34-21. They bounced back in week four, defeating Ogemaw Heights 36-22.

John Glenn is an experienced team, and coach Jeremy Werner likes the direction the team is headed.

“So on paper we should have a good season, but paper is not as strong as actions,” Werner said. “We need to continue to push ourselves during practice so that Friday Nights are fun. These young men can put together a special season if they put forth the proper attitude and effort.”

Despite losing all-state honorable mention performers Travis Bryant and Tanner Kain, Werner has gotten key contributions from his backfield of Devin McCulloh and Anthony Merchant. McCulloh has rushed for over 600 yards in the team’s first four games.

Other contributors to the team are Matt Doyle, Brandon Light, Steven Wardenski, Aaron Lorenz, and Jackson Frederick.
