Ovid Elsie used a solid ground attack to knock off Shepherd Friday night.

The Marauders had a 20-11 edge in first downs and a 289-196 advantage in total yards. Shepherd had a 98-75 lead in yards.

Defensively, two players in particular continue to lead the Marauders. Tate Coleman has 41 tackles and one kickoff return for a 96-yard touchdown.

Tate’s quickness makes him a great defender, as well as his nose for the football,” O-E coach Travis Long said.

Hoskas, a running back and outside linebacker, has 43 tackles and three sacks in his first two games.

“Jeff loves the game of football, whether it be games, practice, watching film or playing video games, he just enjoys everything about it,” Hoskas said. “Defensively Jeff has great awareness to what the team is trying to do and executes the game plan well. He has quick feet which helps him get to the ball and make a tackle. Offensively Jeff has brought a toughness to that fullback position and has used his quickness to make effective blocks.”
