It was an excellent start to the football season for Cedar Springs with a 35-14 topping of Tri County in the season opener last week.
“We played hard,” said Cedar Springs coach Brian Busen. “For our first game, we had a lot of mental mistakes and penalties. Overall for the girls game with a lot of kids without a lot of varsity experience, it was a good start. We need to eliminate the mistakes and silly penalties.”
Forest Hills Eastern this week, “is going to be a significant challenge for us,” Busen said. “Last year, they took it to us pretty good. It’s a team we can’t make many mistakes against and win.”
Austin Wamser had a strong game for the Red Hawks with a 90-yard return for a touchdown and a 30-yard run.
“He did an excellent job returning punts,” Busen said. “Defensively, he was solid as well. He really stood out.”
