The play of Ryan Shannon at guard and weakside linebacker is among the reasons Lansing Catholic just might fire out to a 9-0 regular season again this fall.
Shannon is a junior but played a key role in his team’s season opening victory over Madison Heights Madison last week.
“We can go far this year if we work hard in practice and stay focused on school and football,” he said.
As a lineman on offense, Shannon takes pride in his defense.
“We should have some good pass blocking this year,” he said. “Our run blocking isn’t half bad.”
Going from the varsity to JVs, Shannon has focused on adjusting to the speed of the players.
“I think we can go pretty far this year and continue through into the playoffs,” he said, adding that the reason for his confidence is because of the “effort we put into the games. Everyone looks up to coach (Jim) Ahern.”
