SOCCER
Emily Whipple closed her soccer career for Ithaca on a strong note.
The first-team all-conference standout “played everywhere,” according to Yellow Jacket coach Doug Strait. “Depending on who we played, we put her there. I played her mostly at midfield this year.”
Whipple finished the season with one goal and three assists. She had strong ball skills, according to her coach. “She’s a very good player, a good dribbler and passer,” Strait said. “She had strong legs and could control the play. She’s very talented that way.”
Whipple played varsity all four years for Ithaca.
The Yellow Jackets only had two wins “but [Whipple] did a very good job,” Strait noted.
SOFTBALL
A highlight for Ithaca’s softball team this season came in the predistrict round. The Yellow Jackets were down 4-0 but came back for a 7-4 victory over St. Louis at Carson City-Crystal. Tiana Beck had a two-run double to put Ithaca in front.
Ithaca lost 10-0 to Meridian in the district semifinals. Collecting hits for Ithaca in the loss were Beck and Kali Densmore.
BASEBALL
In the predistricts, Ithaca coasted past St. Louis 12-0, with Jake Greene tossing a one-hit shutout. He struck out nine batters to improve his record to 8-2. Luke Capen had a double and three RBI for Ithaca.
Ithaca lost 5-4 to Meridian in the district semifinals.
