Trent Karcher has had quite a start in helping to lift Chippewa Hills to a 3-1 record.
The Warrior senior wide receiver has racked up impressive stats in the team’s first four games.
“Overall, he’s close to 400 yards receiving. He’s a handful,” said Warrior coach Larry Jose. “He’s a captain for us; he and Hayden Denslow are our two captains. He stepped into that role this year, he’s a quiet kid. He’s doing a good job.”
Karcher is among the key reasons the Warriors are considered to be Central State Activities Association and playoff contenders this season.
“We’ve had a good year. We’ve had a good season on offense but we have to do some things on defense,” Karcher said. “I think I’ve improved a lot. I’ve improved in my route running. I’m faster in my cuts. I’m trying to break the school record, 900 yards this season I already have 300 yards (after three games).”
It’s his third varsity season. He also plays cornerback.
“I’m a lot quicker and faster,” he said. “Plus I’m faster. So far this year it’s only been single coverage.”
He’s been receiver his entire football life.
“I was told to go there. After awhile, I got good at it,” he said. “Our strong spot is passing this year.”
Being a receiver helps Karcher as a cornerback.
“I can tell what route they’re running when they break,” he said.
