Michigan Tech Huskies

Michigan Tech comes off an 8-4 season last year, which earned it a second place finish in the Great Lakes Conference’s North Division. Tech lost 20-3 to North Dakota in the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs.

Offense: Six starters return on offense for the Huskies. Quarterback Tyler Scarlett was the GLIAC freshman of the year in 2011 and set a school record of  2,406 yards. All-league tight end Bryan LaChapelle is back after making 32 catches last season. Senior receivers Matt Curtin and Pat Carroll are back after combining for 61 catches a year ago. Aaron Brant and Chris Mullens return to the offensive line.

Defense: Only two starters are back, linemen Justin Blake and Jacob Clark. Senior linebacker Justin Armstrong also returns.

Scouting Report: The Huskies are talented on offense, suspect on defense.

Our Take: Tech will be in a lot of high-scoring games, win or lose. Expect the Huskies to be a league contender.

Coach’s Comment: “The Great Lakes Conference is so balanced. There’s so many good teams. You have to be ready to play each week.”
