One of the top wrestlers in DeWitt wrestling history, senior Nathan Knauf will be continuing his wrestling career at Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky next season.
A four-year varsity wrestler at DeWitt, Knauf finished third at 189 pounds at the Division 2 state individual tournament this season. Knauf finished his career with a 172-32 record. Nathan also holds the DeWitt career and season pin records with 123 career pins and 40 pins in a season.
Knauf has also wrestled extensively outside of high school as he competed on the Michigan National Junior Duals team and was ranked ninth in the USAW Future Olympian rankings at 189 pounds. Knauf also placed second in Greco Roman wrestling at both the Northeast Regional in Pennsylvania and the Central Regional in Indiana. Nathan also won the Freestyle title at the Northeast Regional.
A member of the DeWitt football team during his high school career, Knauf was an all-area and all-league defensive lineman.
Campbellsville University Tigers finished 3rd in the 2012 NAIA National Wrestling Tournament after placing a school-record seven All-Americans in the top eight individually. The Tigers advanced eight wrestlers to the championship round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament, helping Campbellsville University win its third-straight conference title.
