With the leaves turning color and the days getting shorter, it must be playoff time in Michigan. And playoff time means it’s the time of year for the orange and black of the Rockford Rams to be at their best.
After suffering a season-opening loss to Lowell, the Rams have won eight straight games and have risen to the top of the Division 1 polls. They enter the playoffs with the highest playoff average in Division 1.
Rockford is no stranger to the playoffs, having made the postseason every year since 1994. It has not lost a first-round playoff game since 2002.
Rockford opens the playoffs by hosting West Ottawa. If the Rams get past the Panthers, they would either play Grand Ledge or have a rematch with O-K Red rival Grand Haven.
Rockford is on a collision course with the No. 2-ranked team in the state, Detroit Catholic Central. If the Rams and Catholic Central both win their regionals, they will meet in the state semifinals, with a berth in the state finals at Ford Field on the line.
Rockford has been putting plenty of points on the scoreboard this season. The Rams are averaging 36.2 points per game and have scored 40 or more points in six of nine games
