Like a typical Beal City football player, Ty Rollin does not play like a sophomore.
But the 5-foot-6, 160-pound Beal City running back and safety is indeed a 10th-grader, who has made an impact for the Aggies early in the season.
His best game this season on the ground was 130 yards rushing against Evart. He forms a dangerous combination with Beal City’s other talented halfback, Stone Beckwith.
Last season, Rollin was brought up week five as a freshman.
“I think I only started a couple of games,” he said. “I played most of the games at running back. I think it went pretty well. The line was good last year.”
This season, “We have to get better every game,” Rollin said.
He’s hoping to continue to use his strengths as a player. “My vision is really good,” he said. “I can see the hole and make good cuts and make the guys miss me and then I can go a long way.”
This is Rollins’ eighth year with football. It didn’t take him long to realize how much football means to the Beal City community.
“Everybody wants to come to the football game and see how we are every year,” Rollin said. The Aggies started out the season at 2-1.
“I think we’re close to making a big run,” Rollin said. “We have to keep getting better.”
