It’s a 1-1-1 start for Ithaca’s boys soccer team so far this season.
On Wednesday at home, Ithaca defeated Chesaning 3-2. Luke Rayburn led the way with two goals and an assist for Chesaning while Zach Crowley scored the other goal.
Charles Beck and Mario Cuapio had an assist.
“Luke had six breakaways tonight,” said Ithaca coach Douglas Strait. “They could not keep him out of their defensive zone. There’s nothing they could do about it.”
Ithaca’s goalie Jacob Pierce had four saves.
On Monday night, Ithaca tied Hemlock 3-3. Rayburn had a goal and assist. Cuapio had a goal along with Alex Netzley. Alex Vanderploeg had an assist. Pierce recorded 13 saves.
“He was really alert and played well,” Strait said.
Ithaca opened the season last weekend with a home tournament and lost 2-0 to Stockbridge. A consolation game the Jackets were set to play was canceled due to the weather.
“Luke will be a standout, he’s very talented,” Strait said
