The Montabella Varsity girls played their final home game of the season at home on Monday against St. Charles and lost 60-22. The Mustangs had a very slow first quarter, but broke their pattern and picked it up offensively in the second quarter, but still were unable to disrupt the Bulldog offense. However, each quarter showed improvements defensively, and the Mustangs were able to take the 4th quarter. While this was not enough to overcome St. Charles, the Mustangs did reduce their loss margin from their first encounter with the Bulldogs by 21 points.
Coach: “Mya Scott had a great floor game for the Mustangs, working hard to create an offense, and helping to spur their defense. She ended her final home game with 12 points, 3 steals, and a block. Lexi Jordan showed great instincts on the floor, getting her hands on a lot of passes on defense. Helena Snyder added two steals and a block in her final home game, and Lily Lobert contributed two steals and an assist showing efficiency in her minutes played.”
The girls will finish out the week at Sacred Heart and Merrill before preparing for District play on Monday.
