Ovid-Elsie hosted Mt. Morris in an MMAC showdown Friday night and the Marauders came away with a 55-37 win to improve to 13-5 and 9-4 in the conference. Lauren Barton had 22 points, Caitlyn Walter 11 points, and Madison Cunningham 10 points to pace OE. Cunningham also led OE with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Barton and Tristin Ziola added 6 rebounds each.
“Despite the score, I didn’t feel we played very well tonight,” said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham. “I thought we played well in stretches but not for four quarters and at this point in the year, we need to be able to put together a solid effort from start to finish if we’re gonna make a run in the tournament.”
Kalista Bancroft added 7 points while Kiah Longoria added 3 points and Kaylee Hall 2 points to round out the Marauder scoring.
The Lady Marauders will host Webberville on Tuesday night for a non-league matchup before wrapping up the regular season at New Lothrop on Friday night. The Webberville match up will be a JV and Varsity girls matchup as the boys will travel to Webberville.
In addition, the District tournament has been set as OE will play Durand on March 4th. The winner of that game will advance to the finals on Friday, March 6th against the winner of Chesaning, Corunna or Owosso. Chesaning will host the District.
