The Frankenmuth Lady Eagles survived a scare, holding off a scrappy Bridgeport team, 53-46 on Friday. Up by eight at the half, Frankenmuth lost most of their lead early in the third quarter as the Bearcats picked up the defensive intensity and converted turnovers into easy baskets. With the lead cut to five points heading to the final quarter, Bridgeport continued to pressure the Eagles and speed up the pace of play. Frankenmuth responded by scoring 21 fourth quarter points, including 10-of-13 from the free throw line in the final quarter to hold off the Bearcats and claim the TVC East victory.
Sophomore Zoey Persails led the way, scoring a game-high 16 points and pulling down 9 rebounds. Senior Sydney Merrihew chipped in with 8 points and 5 boards, while fellow senior Brooklin Karwat finished with 7 points and 7 rebounds.
Ruby Garner led Bridgeport with 16 points, while Catarina Juarez added 12.
