Bay City Western vs Saginaw High at Saginaw High
Final Score 86-42
Coach DeMario Walker: ‘Against all odds we walk into Saginaw High’s gym with the confidence we have been waiting for and expecting. We got off to an excellent start! We broke the press with ease and stayed disciplined on things we practice for the last two weeks preparing for this game. We were only down 14-13 in the first quarter and down 14 points in the first half with the score 33-19. We made some adjustments at half time like we normally do. However, so did they. We let a few plays slip away, got sloppy with the ball and they were hitting every shot it seemed.
“We stayed strong and fought the entire way. We didn’t give up and worked together. Regardless of the score, defensively we play the best we ever have only allowing 33 points in the first half. I’m very proud of the direction we are heading as a team and as a program. I couldn’t ask for a better group of young men to share this first varsity experience with! They put in so much work and it goes unnoticed because of the losses but to us we keep building. Ups and downs, through adversity, we will stick it out and continue to build on our success.
“We will continue to compete very second, every minute, every quarter, every half and every game!. We have nothing to lose and the boys recognize that! Very happy with the effort from all of our guys tonight.”
