Ovid-Elsie made it three straight with a 47-31 win over Vestaburg Wednesday night. After a tight first quarter (9-9) Ovid-Elsie turned up the offense and led 27-13 at half. The Wolverines (2-1) kept things close but in the end, the Marauders prevailed and improved to 3-1.
Lauren Barton had a game high 16 points to go along with 5 steals and 3 assists. Caitlyn Walter netted 12 points and 3 assists while Madison Cunningham added 10 points. “We knew we were in for a battle tonight,” said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham. “Vestaburg is senior heavy and they’re well-coached. We knew we had to play well to beat them.” Kiah Longoria added 6 points and 5 steals while Allison Reppenhagen added a bucket and Lexi Kusnier a free throw to round out the Marauders scoring. Ovid-Elsie will travel to league favorite Byron on Friday night for a 7:00 p.m. showdown with the undefeated Eagles. |
